In summer, choose an outdoor pool, a natural lake or a trip to Senec. City swimming facilities follow seasonal schedules, and conditions depend on the weather and current water quality.
As of 2 October 2026, the STaRZ summer season has ended. Use this article to plan next summer’s trip; check the 2027 opening dates and prices once published.
STaRZ outdoor pools
STaRZ city swimming facilities include outdoor venues such as Delfín, Tehelné pole, Lamač and Mičurín. The official STaRZ website publishes season dates, prices, occupancy and opening hours.
Lakes
- Zlaté piesky — water sports, beach activities and cafés.
- Veľký Draždiak — a popular spot in Petržalka for walks and swimming when conditions allow.
- Rusovské jazero — a natural area where visitors should follow local rules and leave no litter.
- Kuchajda — a city lake near Nové Mesto, suitable for walks and summer relaxation.
A trip to Senec
Aquapark Senec at Slnečné jazerá has water attractions for different seasons. Check the official website for opening hours, tickets and availability of individual attractions before travelling.

Pool or lake: practical differences
A city pool is more convenient when you want changing facilities and clear venue rules; choose a lake for a natural setting and waterside walks. Do not expect uniform depth or facilities around an entire lake. For a short after-work visit, prioritise an easy journey home; for a full day, shade, food and places to rest out of the water matter more.
Understanding seasonal schedules
The end of the summer season does not mean every swimming venue in the region is closed: indoor complexes have their own schedules. However, do not assume outdoor city pools operate on last year’s dates. Before next summer’s visit, check opening day, last admission and maintenance closures. Weather can affect actual operation even during the season.
Tickets and extra costs
Check for timed tickets, family prices or evening admission, and which age bracket applies to your child. Sunbeds, lockers, parking, saunas and individual attractions may be charged separately from admission. When buying online, confirm the ticket is valid for your chosen date and whether it must be exchanged at the ticket office.
Swimming in a city lake
For Draždiak, Kuchajda and other natural waters, check current water-quality results on the ÚVZ SR map and local restrictions. This article describes leisure locations; it does not guarantee swimming is permitted everywhere. Outside managed areas, assess access, depth and how to leave the water. Supervise children and do not assume a lifeguard is present.
