Slovakia’s Ministry of Transport announced on 16 October 2026 that it had formally recognised the preliminary type approval for Tesla Full Self-Driving (Supervised). This allows the system to be used on Slovak roads in vehicles where it is installed and available.
FSD Supervised is an advanced driver-assistance package, not a fully autonomous driving system. According to the ministry, it can accelerate, brake, steer, change lanes, navigate intersections and respond to traffic signs and signals using cameras and neural networks.
The Dutch authority RDW issued the preliminary approval in April, and other EU member states may recognise it in their territory. Slovakia has now done so, although the ministry’s notice does not specify a separate activation date for particular models or software versions.
The driver remains fully responsible for the vehicle and must continuously monitor the road. The system checks driver attention, issues warnings when attention lapses and can disengage if necessary. The decision does not permit an empty driver’s seat or driving without human supervision.
