Slovakia’s National Commission for Water and Drought has approved an implementation atlas of priorities for 2026–2030. The document sets directions for future work but does not itself launch construction: individual projects will still need to be prepared and approved.
The priorities include restoring irrigation systems, retaining water in the landscape, protecting drinking-water sources and modernising water-management infrastructure. The framework is intended to coordinate several ministries and specialist institutions.
Preparation of project proposals is due to begin on 1 November 2026. Each proposal must identify a responsible authority, timetable, expected cost, funding method and measurable result. Measures that are already ready to implement will be given priority.
The first proposals are expected in late 2026 and early 2027, with the government aiming for initial results in 2027. The announcement does not specify approved budgets or a list of projects that have already secured funding.
