According to Finančná správa, 837 tax audits were completed in September with findings worth almost €15 million. The authority also carried out 1,445 local investigations and 1,493 oral hearings.
Inspectors checked 2,063 cash registers, found 524 violations and imposed nearly €393,000 in fines. One cited case denied almost €400,000 in VAT deductions on an apartment intended for long-term residential letting, an activity exempt from VAT.
Another company failed to prove business use of cars and luxury goods, expensed cars immediately instead of depreciating them, and claimed unsupported returns; its tax base was adjusted by about €360,000. A sole trader who recorded only eKasa receipts and omitted invoice payments received into a bank account was assessed more than €36,000.
