According to the city and Dopravný podnik Bratislava, public transport recorded 203,990,481 boardings in the first eight months of 2026. That was almost 9.7 million, or more than 5%, above the same period in 2025. The figure counts boardings rather than unique passengers.
Since 2019, DPB has directed almost €500 million towards modernisation, vehicles and passenger services. More than €300 million involved EU-funded projects: roughly three of every five euros invested came from EU funds, with the other two provided by the city and the company.
Fleet renewal accounted for 57% of investment, or more than €275 million. Since 2019, 380 buses, trams and trolleybuses have entered service, with newer vehicles covering 75% of the daily fleet. The city expects up to 136 new vehicles during 2026, including 123 articulated Euro 6e buses.
More than €110 million went to tracks, stops, shelters, crossings, substations and passenger information. The network has added 290 real-time electronic displays and 368 new shelters at 335 stops. A further €100 million-plus was invested in depots and employee facilities.
DPB says resident satisfaction has reached 90.1% and savings since 2019 exceed €60 million. According to the operator, average driver pay is now above €2,200 after increasing by more than 60%. The local survey methodology is not explained in detail.
DPB also lists a prepared project pipeline worth over €700 million, including 60 high-capacity 49-metre trams for 384 passengers and modernisation of the Jurajov dvor depot. These are funding-ready plans, not completed procurements.
