The Slovak government says the fourth unit of the Mochovce nuclear power plant has been connected to the national grid. The unit has an installed capacity of 471 MW. Prime Minister Robert Fico said it should supply about 13% of Slovakia’s electricity consumption once it reaches full output.
According to the government’s announcement, the new connection brings the number of operating nuclear units in Slovakia to six: two at Jaslovské Bohunice and four at Mochovce. The government expects the country to be able to export roughly 400–500 MW from January 2027 if operations proceed as planned.
The prime minister also reiterated plans for a new, state-owned 1,100 MW nuclear unit at the existing Jaslovské Bohunice site. That is a separate future project: the announcement does not mean that construction of this proposed unit is complete or that it has entered commercial operation.
Fico also said household electricity prices in Slovakia would not rise in 2027 and linked future energy policy to negotiations at EU level. This is a government policy statement; the announcement does not include a regulator’s tariff decision or a detailed mechanism for keeping prices unchanged.
