The government reports that the structural shell of Martin’s new university hospital is complete. The project includes 660 beds. It says funding has been arranged for construction to continue in 2027, with operations planned to begin around the turn of 2028–2029. The hospital has not opened yet.
The government’s announcement describes 660 beds, mostly in single rooms with space for an accompanying person. It gives a floor area of around 130,000 square metres and a parking facility with 1,225 spaces.
Funding comes from the Recovery Plan and the state budget. The stated Recovery Plan allocation is €263 million excluding VAT, with total works valued at €403 million excluding VAT. Construction began in June 2024.
Completion of the structural shell is a construction milestone, not the start of patient admissions. Officials connect the future hospital with university medical education and digital technologies. Opening around the turn of 2028–2029 remains a plan; the announcement provides no appointment schedule for the new building.
